Rental Shop Team Member

We are now hiring part-time, seasonal Rental Shop team members to equip our customers with gear to enjoy the slopes. Often the first point of contact for many guests including a beginner, Rental Shop team members work together to create a great first impression. The team’s goal is to provide the best and safest experience and product for all customers regardless of skill level or knowledge.

 Responsibilities

  • Assist in daily open/set up, close/tear down, and maintenance of rental shop; includes general cleaning and organizing
  • Welcome guests with a friendly and cheerful demeanor
  • Guide guests through the rental process; including completing the rental form, boot fitting, and adjusting snow sports equipment
  • Handle equipment returns; ensure equipment has not been damaged, sanitize, equipment, and put it back where it belongs
  • Due to the many variables that affect winter resort operations such as weather and the number of guests, occasionally employees are asked to perform other duties or assist in efforts outside their primary area of responsibility. Other duties as assigned include, but are not limited to, shoveling and emptying trash cans

Qualifications

  • 16 years old or older
  • Reliable transportation to and from work
  • Evening and weekend availability required
  • Experience/knowledge of the ski/snowboarding industry is helpful, but not required
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Positive attitude and outstanding customer service

We are now hiring part-time, seasonal ticketing team members to sell ski and snowboard tickets during the winter season. Often the first point of contact for many guests including a beginner, Tickets team members work together to create a great first impression. The team’s goal is to provide the best and most efficient customer service experience for each and every customer.

 Responsibilities

  • Assist in daily open/set up, close/tear down, and maintenance of ticket office; includes general cleaning and organizing
  • Welcome guests with a friendly and cheerful demeanor
  • Guide guests through the ticketing process; including completing the rental forms, signing waivers, use of tickets, and general resort directions
  • Handle cash, credit card, and check transactions
  • Use of main phone system and answering voicemails
  • Due to the many variables that affect winter resort operations such as weather and the number of guests, occasionally employees are asked to perform other duties or assist in efforts outside their primary area of responsibility. Other duties as assigned include, but are not limited to, shoveling and emptying trash cans

Ski and Snowboard Instructor

Join the exciting team at Tyrol Basin Ski & Snowboard Area this winter season! We have seasonal full and part-time positions available. If you enjoy a fun and fast-paced work environment helping people that want to have fun, then Tyrol Basin is the place for you. We also offer great ski and snowboard perks!

Tyrol Basin is seeking the right person to work as a team member in our Snow Sports department. As an instructor, you’ll assist guests in having a fun and safe experience on the snow! We are looking for individuals who are able to work full time or part time throughout our winter season operations. You do not have to be an expert skier or snowboarder, but some prior experience is recommended. Depending on preference, you will be trained to teach either ski or snowboard lessons (or both if you prefer) safely and efficiently. You will work outside in all weather conditions and with a wide variety of people of all ages. You must be comfortable with constant guest interaction and have efficient communication skills, especially when working with children. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Be ready to begin work each day at scheduled time.
  • Follow company safety policies and procedures.
  • Teaching of ski/snowboard lessons.
  • Occasional maintenance of guest gathering areas–snow shoveling and salting of customer walkways.
  • Be willing and able to provide excellent customer service to all people always.
  • Act as a courtesy guide for our guests; be able to answer questions, handle small problems and provide general information.
  • Commitment to improving skills and teaching techniques through practice and clinics. 

Job Requirements:

  • Must be at least 14 years of age.
  • Must be able to handle long time periods in inclement weather.
  • The employee must either have some prior experience skiing or snowboarding, or is willing to learn how to.
  • Work in a family-friendly learning environment.
  • Must be comfortable leading a group of children/adults.
  • Must be physically fit enough to assist children/adults in their progression of the sport.

Experience Required: Prior experience and knowledge of how to ski/snowboard is recommended

Kitchen Staff

Now hiring part-time staff to work in our kitchen. The position can be year-round or seasonal (for the winter season.) Looking for a responsible people ages 14 and older. This could be a great opportunity for a first job!

Responsibilities
As kitchen team member, you will be asked to help with several duties in the kitchen. Responsibilities include:

  • Cleanliness: help to ensure kitchen and eating area sanitation adheres to health and safety guidelines/requirements
  • Custodial duties: dish washing and general cleaning including wiping tables, bussing tables, emptying trashcans, sweeping, mopping, etc.
  • Customer service: provide customers with prompt and friendly service
  • Food cooking and prep: depending on the age of the employee, duties can include help cooking and preparing food
  • Food service: delivering food orders to customers and ensuring they’ve received everything they need to have a positive experience
  • Cashiering: operating the point of sale, performing cash and credit card transactions
  • Stocking: help make sure all food storage areas are properly stocked and organized
  • Due to the nature of the industry, certain factors such as weather and number of customers may require the employees help in other areas other than their primary area of responsibility. Employees may be asked to help with things such as shoveling, salting, and overall grounds maintenance and cleaning

Snowmaker

Tyrol Basin is looking for hard working and dedicated employees to fill our open snowmaking positions. People for this position should have a love for the outdoors, winter, and the snow sports industry and should be driven to produce a high-quality product. Your position is solely in charge of creating man-made snow and upholding the quality of skiing at our resort!  In the Midwest, high quality man-made snow is what sets one resort apart from another. Experience running manual snowmakers is preferred, but not required. Take your winter in a great direction and spend it at Tyrol Basin!

We run all manual SMI guns. You will be responsible for set up and shut down, plus preventative and corrective maintenance of snowmaking equipment. The snowmaking team is broken up between daytime and nighttime teams. The night team will have more work due to colder temperatures. There is a higher demand for nighttime snowmakers.

Responsibilities:

  • Watching the weather patterns to determine when guns can be started.
  • Place portable snow guns and hoses so they are ready to fire up when the temps are right
  • Move snow guns and hoses when weather (wind, temps, etc.) changes
  • Turning and moving snow guns for the best possible placement on hill
  • Hourly snow quality control rounds when creating snow
  • Changing water & air pressure to compensate for changes in weather
  • Changing or de-icing nozzles when not functioning properly
  • Completing preventative maintenance to maintain a solid snow gun fleet
  • Corrective maintenance on compressors, nozzles, nukes, and hoses throughout the season
  • Shovel snow around snowmaking equipment when necessary (equipment can get buried)
  • Maintain safety pads around guns
  • Uphold all safety protocols
  • Working with other departments to maintain a strong team atmosphere

Qualifications:

  • Valid Driver’s License w/ no restrictions (REQUIRED)
  • Must be 18 years of age (REQUIRED)
  • Capable of lifting 75+ pounds
  • Capable of physically strenuous work (REQUIRED)
  • Willing to work 10+ hour shifts when necessary (REQUIRED)
  • Willing to work in very cold conditions (REQUIRED)
  • Team player and can work well in small groups (REQUIRED)
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently (REQUIRED)
  • Mechanical experience (PREFERRED)

The season usually starts around early November and goes through February. When the weather does not allow for snowmaking, hours can be picked up by working with other departments and completing necessary maintenance in the shop. Lift Operator

Tyrol Basin is seeking the right person to work in our Lift Operations department as a team member ready to assist guests in having a fun and safe experience on the snow! We are looking for individuals who are able to work full time or part time throughout our winter season operations. You will be trained to operate all lift types in a safe and efficient manner. Instruct guests on the proper way to ride a lift, assist guests on and off. Work outside in all weather conditions. Must be good with people as there is constant guest interaction involved. Be able to take work seriously and have fun at the same time.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Be ready to begin work each day at scheduled time.
  • Follow company safety policies and procedures.
  • Prepare loading and unloading areas; shovel snow, set signs, clean chairs, set lines, etc.
  • Routine check of all lift functions.
  • Operate lift, assist guests on/off lift as needed.
  • Be willing and able to provide excellent customer service to all people always.
  • Act as a courtesy guide for our guests; be able to answer questions, handle small problems and provide general information.
  • Check tickets as needed.
  • Complete daily records accurately.

Job Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Must be able to handle time periods in inclement weather.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Work in a fast paced environment

Pay: $11.00 – $13.00 per hour

Tubing Bartender
Are you looking to gain bartending experience while making extra money? Tyrol Basin is looking for friendly, upbeat people to add to our Tubing Team! The Tyrol Tubing Chalet serves a limited menu of food options and both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
Primary winter tubing hours will be Thursday and Friday evenings and Saturday and Sunday all day, starting after Christmas.
The ideal candidates will love winter and interacting with people! Candidates should also be 18 years old or older and while they do not need to work every day that the Tubing operation is open, they should have availability that lends to the open Tubing hours. Starting wage is $15 per hour plus tips.
Tubing Concessions Team Members
