Q: Can we bring our sled?
A: Unfortunately our insurance company does not allow sledding devices on our slopes. Sledding requires a long run-off area which we do not have.
Q: Are there any restrictions to the kind of snowboard that we can use on the slopes?
A: Snowboards must have metal edges and a leash.
Q: I have some tickets left on my Dark Dozen card from last year. Are they still good?
A: Dark dozen tickets left from last season are good until Christmas Eve (Dec 24th).
Q: What are the largest size ski and snowboard boots that Tyrol rents?
A: Ski boots: 16 Snowboard boots: 15
Q: What is your vertical?
A: 300 ft.

A: 16

A: Three triple chairlifts and three surface tows
Q: Does Tyrol accept checks?
A: We accept checks, Master Card, Visa, and debit cards.
Q: Do you need to reserve your tickets before you arrive?
A: No, you do not need to reserve your tickets before your visit. However, you can pre-purchase tickets and rentals online (www.tyrolbasin.com) if you would like to. Bring your order confirmation with you and present it to the ticket cashier to receive your lift ticket.
Q: If I see a special event listed on Tyrol’s calendar, is Tyrol still open to the public on those days?
A: Yes, definitely! Most special events/competitions only use one or two of the 16 trails at Tyrol. Call ahead (608-437-4135) to see which trails will be closed to the public and for how long.
Q: How do we find Tyrol Basin?

Q: Does Tyrol offer NASTAR?
A: Yes. We offer NASTAR on most Saturdays at 1:00 or 1:30 and Sundays at 10:30AM unless there is a competition going on that is using that trail. On competition Sundays, NASTAR should start at 1:30pm. Please call ahead if you want to verify times for NASTAR.
Q: What are your conditions?
A: We will always try to give you as honest an answer as we can at the moment you are asking. However, conditions change throughout the day based on temperature, freezing/thawing, day/night, number of people using a trail, machine-made snow surfaces vs. natural snow falling, etc.
Q: Does Tyrol have cross country trails?
A: We do not have specified Nordic trails, however a Nordic skier can buy a $15 facility use ticket, which will allow then to use the slopes (but not the chairlifts).
Q: Can I share my lift ticket with another person?
A: Lift tickets are non-transferable. Each person must purchase their own ticket.
Q: How old does my child have to be to go to Tyrol without me?
A: You know your own child’s independence. If they are at Tyrol without you, please put an emergency contact in their pocket or write it inside their helmet should it be needed.
Q: Can Tyrol repair and/or tune equipment?
A: Yes, we can tune equipment. Just ask in our rental department. It is best if you can leave your equipment overnight in case we are busy and can’t get to it right away.
Q: Do I have to buy a ticket if I am just using the rope tow?
A: If you put equipment on your feet, you must buy a ticket.
Q: If I am helping my child on the beginner hill, do I have to buy a ticket?
A: If you stay in your “street boots” and do not put ski or snowboard equipment on your feet, you do not need a ticket.
Q: Can I buy a ticket and ride the chairlift if I am not skiing or snowboarding?
A: Our insurance company does not allow “foot passengers” on our lifts in the winter. Only people with ski or snowboard equipment on their feet may ride the chairlifts.
Q: When are Bump Buster and/or Twister closed to the public?
A: Racing and special events are an important part of the “Tyrol Experience” and many are open to public participation. Racing and practices are held Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs, and most Saturdays and Sundays from open to 3 or 4PM. One or both runs may be in use or only open on one side to the public.
Q: When are Chair “C” and the West Ridge runs open?
A: Due to weather and snowmaking priorities, the West Ridge runs typically open Dec 26th. We usually operate Chair “C” on weekends and holidays and weekday evenings after 5PM.
