For Parents & First-Timers
How old does my child have to be in order to tube?
We do not have an age requirement for tubing, but there are a few things to consider when deciding whether your child is ready to enjoy the tubing hill. Can they follow basic directions and abide by basic rules? Can they get into and out of their tube quickly and without assistance? Safety is our number one goal and every participant needs to follow all rules of the tubing hill. In some cases, a child may be ready to enjoy the tubing hill by sharing a tube with an adult. We do NOT allow children to share a tube with other children. If a child and an adult are sharing a tube, both will still need a ticket and completed release/waiver on file with us. Any child under the age of 12 should be closely and directly supervised AT ALL TIMES.
My child is coming out to enjoy the tubing hill with a group and I won’t be there with them. What do I need to do?
Parents can complete a waiver for their child ANY time prior to their child’s visit and it will be on file for the remainder of the season; a child’s legal parent/guardian should be the only person completing the release/waiver for that child. SAVE TIME AND COMPLETE YOUR WAIVERS BEFORE ARRIVING at shop.tyrolbasin.com/forms.
My young child will be riding on my lap; do they need a ticket?
Yes-every participant will need a ticket AND a completed waiver/release form, even if they are sharing a tube. If you’re just coming to watch, you won’t need a ticket or release/waiver completed. If you’re sliding down the hill, you will. SAVE TIME AND COMPLETE YOUR WAIVERS BEFORE ARRIVING at shop.tyrolbasin.com/forms.
Tickets
Should I buy my tickets in advance?
We do highly encourage folks to purchase tickets in advance for a pre-scheduled time slot, but pre-purchasing tickets is not required. Please note, pre-purchased tickets are NOT refundable or transferable for any reason! Please also note that a late arrival will cut into your total tubing time. Time slots for in-person ticket purchases begin as of 10 minutes after the tickets are purchased.
What does my tubing ticket include?
The ticket price includes a tube for the entire duration of your 4 hours; you will keep the same tube the entire time, so that means less waiting to slide down the hill again and again! We also have two moving conveyors that will bring you back to the top; use of those is included in your ticket price, too!
Attire
Do I need to wear a helmet?
We strongly encourage, but do not require, participants to wear a helmet. We have a number of helmets available for rental, or you can feel free to bring your own to wear!
What kind of attire is recommended for tubing?
Get the most out of your 4 hours; dress in layers and don’t forget your hats and mittens! Ski/snowboard boots are not permitted to be worn while tubing.
Storage Lockers
Are there Storage lockers at Tyrol Basin?
Tyrol Basin provides locker storage in these locations:
•Snow Tubing area – located inside main doors of the Tubing Chalet. Please inquire at ticket window to purchase locker key.
•Ski & Snowboard area – located outdoors by main Chalet & Rentals building. Payment with quarters only ($.50 & $1.00 size options).
What to Expect
Do I have to walk back up the hill?
No-we have two (yes, that’s right TWO) moving conveyors that will bring you back to the top. If you prefer to get some exercise, you can feel free to walk back up to the top!
Is there a warming house?
Yes-we have a beautiful Tubing Chalet where you can warm up. There is a variety of concession items including pizza, nachos, pretzels, candy, and chilli plus cookies, soda, powerade, beer, hard seltzers, and other fun alcoholic beverages! We also have lockers available for rental at the tubing ticket window.
How can I have the MOST fun while tubing?
Make sure you are aware of all of the rules for the tubing hill before you begin tubing! You will receive one warning if you are in violation of the rules. After one warning you will be asked to leave and you will not be refunded for any remaining time. Rules are in place to keep everyone safe and it is extremely important that everyone follow these rules!
