TYROL BASIN RECREATION LEAGUES

Tyrol Basin is excited to begin offering summer recreation opportunities, including recreation leagues and tournaments! Our first league session of the summer will begin June 7th and end July 28th – the second league session will begin August 9th and end September 29th. Bocce Ball (starts June 7, 2023)

Tyrol Basin Bocce Ball League
Session I (June 7- July 26, 2023)

  1. Team Composition: a. Each team will consist of up to four (4) players, with a minimum of two (2) players. b. The team may have up to two (2) additional substitute players, but only four (4) players can be on the court at any given time.
  2. Equipment: a. Bocce balls will be provided for each court; however, personal bocce balls may be used. b. The court will be provided with pallino (jack) balls for gameplay.
  3. Gameplay: a. Each league night will consist of a best-of-three series, with pre-scheduled games played to twelve (12) points. b. If the twelve (12) game points are not reached within the thirty-minute game time limit, the high score wins the game. If no winner is determined after a tiebreaker frame, both teams receive a tie and no win is awarded to either team. Game points will still count in cumulative season scoring. c. For basic Bocce rules, click here. Team captains will be sent an official league rules packet for review upon registration.
  4. Game Etiquette: a. Players must respect the game and their opponents, adhering to the principles of fair play and sportsmanship. b. Only one player from each team will throw the bocce ball at a time. Other players must remain behind the throwing line until it's their turn. c. Spectators should not interfere with gameplay or distract players during their throws. d. Any disputes or rule clarifications should be addressed respectfully and calmly, with Tyrol Basin league management or the designated official making the final decision.
  5. League Management: a. Tyrol Basin will be responsible for scheduling games, keeping track of scores, and maintaining overall league operations. b. League management will communicate important information to team captains, such as schedule changes, rule updates, or league announcements. Canceled or postponed games will be played on the subsequent week after the season ends, if necessary. Any further scheduling irregularities will be decided by league management and will be communicated to each team captain. Game cancellations will be determined by management. If a game has started, but has not been completed at the time of the cancellation, it will be replayed in its entirety and all scoring will be reset to zero. If one game of a match has been completed, and the second game is canceled, the completed game will count towards the standings and the second game will be rescheduled.
  6. Code of Conduct: a. Players are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that reflects positively on Tyrol Basin Recreation Leagues and the sport of bocce ball. b. Unsportsmanlike behavior, including but not limited to cheating, verbal abuse, excessive intoxication, or physical altercations, will not be tolerated and may result in disciplinary action, including suspension or expulsion from the league.

These rules are subject to modification or amendment by Tyrol Basin, as deemed necessary for the fair and efficient operation of the league. It is the responsibility of all participants to review and understand the league rules and comply with them throughout the duration of the league.

Bags (starts June 8, 2023)

  1. Team Composition: a. Each team will consist of two (2) players. b. Teams may have up to two (2) substitute players, but only two (2) players can be on the court at any given time.
  2. Equipment: a. Standard and regulation boards will be provided and set up at the appropriate distance at each court. b. Standard and regulation bags will be provided at each court.
  3. Gameplay: a. Each league night will consist of a best-of-three series, with pre-scheduled games played to twenty-one (21) points. b. Each game will consist of a series of frames in which teams will alternate turns throwing bags towards the opposite board. c. Each team will throw four (4) bags per round, with players taking turns within their team. d. The team scoring the most points in a round will throw first the following round. e. Points are awarded based on bags that land on the board (1 point) or bags that go through the hole (3 points). f. Cancellation scoring is used, where the difference in points between teams is calculated and only the team with the higher score earns points for that round. g. The first team to reach (or exceed) twenty-one (21) points will be determined the game winner. h. Team captains will be sent an official league rules packet for review upon registration.

Fitness Classes

Tyrol Basin is excited to begin offering summer recreation opportunities, including a weekly fitness class! Tyrol Basin Run Club will begin June 5th, and be held every Monday morning at 8:00AM. Perfect for running enthusiasts in the area, this class is open to runners of any age and skill level! Tyrol Basin Fitness Club will start on June 8th, meet each Thursday evening at 5:30PM. This workout will incorporate both anaerobic and aerobic exercises for a total fitness experience - great for athletes, competitors, and people who love to sweat!
